Have you ever wondered why success sometimes feels heavier than you expected? Or why you feel exhausted even after doing “all the right things”?

In this episode of Your Yes Filled Life, I talked with my friend, Sarah Sherwood — somatic experiencing practitioner, mindfulness coach, and trauma-informed breathwork facilitator — to unpack the subtle ways stress, trauma, and old survival patterns show up in our leadership, our health, and our lives.

Sarah shares how the body remembers what the mind forgets, why burnout is a nervous system issue (not a personal failing), and how small somatic shifts can help you reclaim your vitality. One of the big takeaways I had in this episode was related to Sarah's explanation of "lifting the floor".

When you can bring mindfulness into stressful moments, you can "raise the floor". Another way to think about this is you are shifting what your bottom or lowest point might be. She's right! And even after all this time, I'd never thought of it like that.

For example, box breathing, intentional movement, and somatic awareness can help you reconnect to your body's deep wisdom — without needing hours of free time or a complete life overhaul. Worrying it will take too long is one of the things that keeps people from trying somatic practices but Sarah and I both belief you can have tremendous benefits with only 2-3 minutes of mindful breath.

We also talk about the ways your body might be talking to you and how you can better listen. I'm curious... how do you think YOUR body talks to you?

Whether you're leading a team, managing a family, or growing your next big vision, this conversation will leave you feeling empowered to make meaningful shifts in a way that’s both compassionate and sustainable.
