Novel Inspiration… a great book and a story about manifesting.

law of attraction wednesday words Jun 08, 2016

One of my favorite things about having a teenager is that I can share my favorite books and movies with my daughter. I don’t purchase many novels unless they really touch my heart in some way (I’m a big library supporter). To tell you how much I love this book, I have an author autographed copy of “The Art of Racing in the Rain” by Garth Stein. For one of my daughter’s book projects during spring semester, she needed a novel and asked me if she could borrow my book. I was thrilled! I’d read the book nearly 8 years ago but keep my copy on a bookshelf in the living room because I always think I might pick it up. I also loan it to my closest friends because I think it’s one of those books everyone should read. It’s a must read especially if you like or have dogs!

If you’ve followed my posts and website for a while, you know I have a course called Manifesting Miracles. This course teaches how to change your thinking to create the life of your dreams. In case this is the first you have heard of it, here is a link.

We all know that our kids pick up our beliefs. We all know that it’s more about what is caught than what is taught. And yet, I felt delighted and surprised when my daughter created this poster to illustrate what she found to be the most important points of the novel “The Art of Racing in the Rain“. This is a lovely story told from the perspective of the dog, named Enzo. Enzo’s owner is a race car driver.

The quote from the novel she used (beneath the car) says, “Your car goes where your eyes go. Simply another way of saying that which you manifest is before you. I know it’s true. Racing doesn’t lie.”

I hadn’t realized that quote was in there! But that is probably one of the reasons this book made my favorite list. You see, it’s true.

Where ever you place your attention is what you will manifest. What you focus upon magnifies. If you want more money, you focus gratitude on what you have. If you want more love, offer more love. If you want more friends, be a good friend. Keep your focus on what you want.

There are only two possible reasons you haven’t been manifesting things into your life that you really desire.

  1. The first is that the Universe (God, Source, Spirit, Creator of All That Is) is lining things up behind the scenes that aren’t visible to you yet.
  2. The second is that your fearful thoughts are the predominant thought; you are attracting that which you fear.

I know this can chafe a bit. Or at least I should say, it really shook me when I heard it the first time. I was angry. I spent several years trying to prove this idea wrong. I get it. We don’t always want to be held responsible for the life we have. I certainly didn’t want to believe I had any ownership in being in an unhealthy and abusive marriage. Years of self study, counseling, meditating and praying helped me understand what I was responsible for in order to make new healthy choices.

It’s very simple. If you want to change your life, change the way you think. It doesn’t matter where you are starting: all that matters is where you want to go. Keep your mind and words focused on what you want. And it WILL happen. Don’t beat yourself up if you aren’t where you want to be. Lovingly decide to forgive yourself. Now, make a new choice. Keep your focus on what you want.

If you’d like some help, this is my area of speciality. I have a lot of personal experience and training in changing thinking to change life. After all, nine years ago I was living in a domestic violence shelter with my daughter after leaving an abusive marriage, with two suitcases and $400 to my name. Things have changed completely because I changed what I thought, I changed what I believed I deserved, and I surrounded myself with really amazing people. I’m living proof that if you change your thinking , you can change your life.

Here is to you creating the life of your dreams and to you manifesting the life you have always wanted!! If you like this, please share! My mission it to spread love and light far and wide. You can help me do that!

All my love,

Brenda
