Do You Really Not Know - or Is the Answer Just Hard? #292
Have you ever said, “I don’t know what to do,” and then spent days, weeks, or even years asking everyone else what they think?
Sometimes you genuinely don’t know.
But sometimes you do know something - and what you’re actually struggling with is the uncertainty, fear, or other people’s reactions that might come with honoring it.
In this episode of Your Yes Filled Life, I’m sharing one of my own experiences of knowing what I wanted long before I trusted myself enough to fully choose it. We’ll also talk about why this can be especially complicated for empaths, who are often taking in everyone else’s feelings, preferences, and reactions alongside their own.
You’ll learn how to distinguish between “I don’t know what to do” and “I know, but taking action feels hard,” why discomfort doesn’t automatically mean you’re making the wrong decision, and a simple practice for separating what you know from what you’re afraid of.
Because someone else’s feelings can be real without becoming instructions for your life.
In this episode:
- Why “I don’t know” can mean several very different things
- How Brenda’s own career change challenged her self-trust
- Why empaths can confuse other people’s reactions with information about what they should do
- The difference between nervous-system activation and intuition
- Why the “right” decision doesn’t necessarily feel easy
- How information-seeking can keep us from acting
- A simple two-column practice for separating knowing from fear
