109. Your superpower: emotional potency

Season #4

Try Breathwork free. https://www.brendawinkle.com/breatheThis episode of the podcast goes behind the scenes into a conversation where Brenda's clients asked, "Have you been following me around my house? How did you know this?!?" during a recent content call in Yes Academy - the 12 month mastermind and healing program for world changers with a huge mission on their hearts.

Here are the takeaways...

  1. Context is the story about what you are experiencing, the story about what happened, or the story of your life.
  2. Content is how you feel about the context. It's the emotional journey. Another word we could use for content is curriculum.
  3. If you get stuck in the context (the story) it's easy to avoid the content.
  4. Hot potato'ing feelings is a way to avoid feeling your emotions. When we hot potato our emotions away we are avoiding processing our emotions. When we avoid processing the emotions about a situation, the context is going to come around again because we haven't healed the content.
  5. Signs you are hot potato'ing away emotions would when you try to tell someone about something before you've processed or become aware of how you feel, or if you feel like the emotions are too much and you have to discharge them by telling someone else.
  6. Signs you are stuck in the context (not moving through content) include: you talk about the same thing all the time or if you can't see another possibility or way to do something, self-sabotaging behaviors
  7. Pause before you respond or react to something. You can set a timer on your phone for one minute if you need it and then feel into how or when you need support.
  8. If you need support, decide what kind of support would be best: a listening ear or solutions. But if you ask for solutions, be careful that you aren't asking someone to rescue you.
